Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, is a city along the Malabar Coast in the state of Kerala in India. Known as the City of Spices, Kozhikode is listed among the UNESCO's Cities of Literature. It is the tenth largest urban agglomeration in the country and the largest one in Kerala. Kozhikode city is the third largest city proper in the state with a corporation limit population of 609,224 Kozhikode is classified as a Tier-2 city by the Government of India.
