I travel for work, and as a horse person, this was an obvious trip. It is newly reopened after extensive rework. Just as impressive as the museum are the stone buildings in the area. Custer's House M…Full review by Kerry G

The U.S. Cavalry museum has reopened after being closed for renovations. It was well worth the visit. The 1st Infantry Division museum has not yet reopened.Full review by Nick C

It is closed for renovations. Very disappointed that we planned our route and times to include this visit only to be turned away. Surely they could have posted this on their website.Full review by Mobile36581430924
Does anyone know if the museum holds any Medal of Honor collections in the museum? I am reading different accounts but can find nothing official about what medals are in the collection? Thanks

We were not at the museum very long so I don't remember seeing any Medals of Honor. We arrived later in the day and time was limited before they closed. Also, the museum location was undergoing remodeling and part of the museum had been relocated to a temporary location. You should call the museum before you visit and make sure you know where they are.

Since February, 2016, citizens of several US states have had to provide additional information and documentation in order to gain access to the base. I am uncertain how this pertains to foreign visitors. There is information on the base website regarding base access, but it does not seem to mention foreign visitors. TripAdvisor will not allow me to include a link in my answer, but this is the email address that they furnish for access information [email protected]. Good luck!
Cost and would this be of interest to an eight year old boy? Time to get there from Junction City?

The museum is free. As to interest to an eight year old I'm uncertain. I would think the tanks and trucks outside would be to most boys that age. As to the rest it would depend on the child's interest in history and our military. It was about ten minutes from our hotel in town to the museum. Have all adults IDs and your car insurance proof out to show at the entrance to the base. Just a formality required to enter the base property.
