I have been in Lipton's Seat 3 three times since 2014 and noticed only bus which goes to Bandaraeliya(Tamil Community) so had to get off at the crossroads. I took the right fork all the way up and paid a fee to pass the gate. Some told me that he experienced a bus that could drop him off at the pass gate. Have anyone of you seen the bus that can drop tourist at the gate?

Taking a tuk tuk from the base would be the efficient option.

HI i would like to visit Lipton’s seat from Ella - I know this is doable but as a backpacker I can’t afford private taxi from Ella. The train gets into haputale at 7:40am (if on time) and then a tuktuk up to the view point. So my question is if I get this train // and tuk would I get to the top before the fog? Or is it fogged over by 8:30/9am? Thanks!!

The bus leaves from the square about 300-400 m from the train station. No need to get a tuktuk. I got the bus at 9am from Haputale to Dambatenne which is about 10 kms and hiked the remaining 6 or 7 kms. Guess i reached Liptons Seat by noon and the view was still exceptional. The red bus only goes as far as Dambatenne but there are other smaller white buses that go all the way to Lipton's Seat. Not sure if they leave from exactly the same place as the red bus, but just ask when you get there. The buses leave about every 30 mins and cost 30-40 rps.

I went to Lipton's Seat by bike, the road is narrow, well paved and possible to be used by any vehicle, except for buses from the Dambantenna Tea Factory. Take your time to enjoy the beauty of the landscape. The route to Lipton's is just as enjoyable as the view from the top.
