CBS parent Paramount insists that this week's decision to cancel Steven Colbert's “Late Show” was strictly financial, and had nothing to do with politics.

Paramount, the network’s parent, recently agreed to pay President Trump $16 million to settle his lawsuit over the editing of an interview on the CBS News program “60 Minutes.”

CBS canceled Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show,” Colbert announced yesterday. The network says they are ending the franchise as a whole. Puck Founding Partner Matt Belloni joins Katy Tur to discuss, saying it was a financial decision but that people cannot ignore the political circumstances as well.
