Brendan Ingle has passed away aged 77 (Picture: Action Images) Brendan Ingle, one of the most successful trainers in British boxing over the last 30 years , has died at the age of 77.

Brendan Ingle was ­celebrated as a great trainer. And that he was. But boxing was only part of his contribution to the Sheffield community. He was also a great trainer in life.

"I walked into Brendan Ingle's gym in 1976 after leaving school and I've never looked back," he told BBC Radio Sheffield. "I owe it all to him. If I never met Brendan, I don't know what I'd be doing.
