Massive crowds gathered at the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C., to witness cherry blossom trees at full bloom.

Above-average temperatures, gusty winds, and a March downpour helped bring an early end to peak bloom season for D.C.’s famous cherry blossom trees.

Cherry blossom petals rained down at the Tidal Basin on Monday as gusty showers swept through, abruptly ending an abbreviated peak bloom. “Peak bloom is officially over,” the National Park Service said Tuesday morning on X.
