Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows hit a double off Pirates ace Paul Skenes on Monday, July 21 — his first extra-base hit since June 22.

The Tigers have a quick turnaround, as they finished up a three-game series against the Texas Rangers late Sunday night. Detroit dropped the first two games of the series with limited offense, but relied on great pitching from Tarik Skubal and company kept the Tigers from getting swept.

For Triple-A Toledo, Detroit Tigers right-hander Troy Melton posted a 2.72 ERA with nine walks and 56 strikeouts across 36⅓ innings in eight games.

Riley Greene will be the designated hitter for the Detroit Tigers on Monday night in Pittsburgh. The Tigers (60-40) start a three-game series at PNC Park against the Pirates (39-61) at 6:40 p.m. Catcher Jake Rogers; infielder Javier Baez; and outfielders Wenceel Perez and Jahmai Jones will be available off the bench.
