U.S. President Donald Trump signed a wide-reaching executive order on Monday directing drugmakers to lower the prices of their medicines to align with what other countries pay that analysts and legal experts said would be difficult to implement.

Roche Holding AG said it would need to reconsider planned US investments if President Donald Trump implements an executive order to cut prescription drug costs.

President Trump will hold a press conference Monday morning with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to announce an executive order to cap prescription drug and pharmaceutical prices at the lowest cost offered in any other country.

The order is based on a "most favored nation" pricing model, which is similar to a policy Trump pushed in his first administration.
