Missourians approved Proposition A, which raised the minimum wage and mandated paid sick leave, with 57% of the vote. The legislation passed by the Missouri House entirely repeals the mandated sick leave portion.

Missouri’s voter-approved paid sick leave requirements and a minimum wage increase are another step closer to being thrown off course. The state House of Representatives has passed a bill that would get rid of the sick leave mandate and delay the $15 per hour minimum wage increase to 2028.

In court and the legislature, efforts continue to repeal or water down a voter-approved law requiring paid sick leave and a higher state minimum wage.

Does Proposition A violate the Missouri Constitution? That’s what the State Supreme Court is now weighing. The voter-passed initiative will raise Missouri’s minimum wage to $15 an hour next year and requires employers to provide one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Missouri lawmakers passed House Bill 567, which would cut back on paid sick leave regulations voters passed in Proposition A.

Missouri voters approved Proposition A by a martin of 15% and more than 445,000 votes. But business groups argue that the ballot measure violates state law.
