Paramount Plus has become the streaming home for Star Trek, releasing six shows as part of the franchise since 2017, with a seventh premiering next year. But while there has been a glut of Star Trek TV, the USS Enterprise hasn’t appeared on the big screen since Justin Lin’s 2016 Star Trek Beyond.

That includes increasing the number of movies released annually, with Star Trek “a high priority.” Ellison, the trade points out, has been tied into Star Trek since 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness, which counted him among its executive producers.

Paramount is ready to bring Star Trek back to theaters in a big way now that its merger with Skydance Media is complete. According to a report from Deadline, the studio currently has multiple Star Trek films in development.
