The House of Representatives has voted in favor of a rule approving President Donald Trump's request to claw back around $9 billion.
The outreach was made to at least six states. In some of the letters obtained by ABC News, the DOJ requested from the states broad information about voting systems, how counties maintain updated voter information and how noncitizens who are on voter lists are identified.
The $9 billion package passed the House and the Senate with only Republican votes through the rarely used "rescissions" process. Trump is now expected to sign it into law.
In Manhattan, Brooklyn, Albany and Newark, confusion has reigned as prosecutors are fired or walk out, and U.S. attorneys serve in limbo while awaiting confirmation.
