We knew Volkswagen's upcoming entry-level electric vehicle would be cheap – VW has repeated "€20,000" more times than we care to count. But we feared that would mean it would look every bit as cheap as its sticker price.

Volkswagen will focus the sales strategy for its 20,000-euro ($21,580.00) electric car coming out in 2027 on Europe, its brand chief said on Wednesday, adding the carmaker needed until then to bring down battery costs to sell it at that price.

Volkswagen has unveiled its most affordable electric car yet in a bid to grab a slice of the mass market in Europe. The VW ID.2all will cost just over €20,000 at its cheapest level and go on general sale in 2027.
