New Orleans has confirmed a second case of neuroinvasive West Nile virus, with a third under investigation. Mosquito spraying begins tonight.
MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Minot Air Force Base found mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus at a park on base. The 5th Medical Group said the mosquito samples were found last month. The base is taking safety measures like surveillance of high-traffic areas and housing communities, as well as applying control measures.
An American crow in Walnut Creek was found to be the second bird infected with West Nile Virus, according to the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District.
Health experts say a confirmed case of West Nile Virus is connected to someone who travelled outside of Manitoba, but that doesn't mean there won't be homegrown cases this summer.
