Hurricane Helene came ashore in the big bend region of Florida as a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of about 135 miles per hour.

Helene becomes the seventh-costliest storm on record, the hurricane center reported, behind Katrina, Harvey, Ian, Maria, Sandy and Ida. It's the fourth-deadliest storm to make landfall in the mainland U.

Hurricane Helene was the deadliest tropical cyclone in the continental U.S. in 19 years and ranks among the nation's costliest weather disasters, just two findings of a just-released final report from the National Hurricane Center.
