The Trump administration has unveiled 15 new drugs selected for a Medicare drug price negotiation program that allows the federal government to haggle directly with drug manufacturers.
TrumpRx, the government website designed to offer lower-cost options for select brand-name prescriptions, officially launched on Feb. 5, according to President Donald Trump. The direct-to-consumer service is part of the administration’s efforts to reduce prescription costs in the United States.
TrumpRx is aimed at helping patients use their own money to buy medicines. But researchers who study drug pricing warned that many patients could pay too much if they use the site.
About 1.8 million people used one or more of the 15 drugs through Medicare Part D or Part B between November 2024 and October 2025, the CMS said. The batch of 15 meds accounted for about $27 billion in prescription drug spending in Medicare over that timeframe, or about 6% of total Part B and Part D spending, CMS said.
