Until the 1950s, the Old Delhi railway station acted as the principal railway station in Delhi. The New Delhi Railway Station was officially inaugurated in 1956 with just a single platform.

The formidable fortifications watched centuries go by. The remains are reminders and relics of the city’s many pasts.

So the old system that the railways is following ... There were only two footover bridges in Delhi railway station. After the stampede, a third footover bridge was constructed.
