Police received several calls about a plane crash on Sunday afternoon. One of the callers told them a plane had landed in his back yard, unsure at the time if everyone inside the aircraft was OK.
The pilot, a 70-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital.
As reported by fellow Gray Media station, WHNS, the Moffatt family was flying from the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area to Huntsville, Alabama. They report that the aircraft stopped in Union County to refuel.
A group of good Samaritans was caught on video working together to lift the wreckage of a small plane and free the pilot trapped inside after the aircraft went down in the parking lot of a Pacoima auto parts store.
