The San Francisco Giants are a week into spring training games and here is how their opening day roster could be coming together.

The younger brother of former Giants backup catcher Andrew Susac, Daniel Susac was drafted in the first round of the 2022 MLB draft by the Oakland A’s. The 24-year-old possesses a strong arm and projects as an average defender, but his offense didn’t take meaningful steps as he hit the upper levels of the Athletics’ system.

With Arraez, Bader, Lee and Ramos all participating in the WBC, the Giants are getting an extended look at the position players currently fighting for spots on the bench.

The Giants gave a starting turn to Blake Tidwell, one of the players they acquired last July from the New York Mets in exchange for pitcher Tyler Rogers. He threw in four Major League games last year for the Mets and threw a scoreless inning earlier in spring training.

With a 6-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Monday, the Giants have played 10 Cactus League games. It’s a small sample size and should be taken with a grain of salt, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t valuable information packed into the first 90 innings of Giants spring baseball.

Opening Day is less than a month away, and the Giants find themselves with a handful of injuries to manage. First baseman Rafael Devers, who was scratched from Friday’s lineup, will be withheld from all baseball activity until at least early next week as he deals with left hamstring tightness.
