Just got a new DVR installed. Also have on old TIVO. the TIVO was working perfectly but the DVR wasn't picking up the odd trasponders on the signal test and often said "searching for satellite signal" ...
As a radio engineer, you probably have had some experience with satellite reception. In the United States most of the radio networks are on the radio community satellite, currently called AMC-8.
