A social media post by ESPN has drawn criticism after it described the late Bobby Jenks as being “on the roster” of the White Sox's 2005 world champonship team in a post about his death earlier this week.

The death of the former White Sox closer prompted a teammate to call out ESPN for suggesting Jenks was a marginal player on the 2005 World Series champions.

ESPN shared a news story about Jenks’ passing on Saturday evening, writing that he was “on the roster” when Chicago won the 2005 World Series. However, as Mientkiewicz and others noted on social media, Jenks was not only the roster but he recorded the series’ final out, giving the White Sox their first title since 1917.
