Protesters clashed with law enforcement in Los Angeles on Sunday after Trump deployed National Guard troops over the objections of Gov. Newsom.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday asked President Donald Trump to rescind his deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles, calling the order a "breach of state sovereignty."
Newsom said Trump's presidential memorandum from Saturday night was not issued through the "governor of the State," arguing that is unlawful under federal law.
By calling in the National Guard to quell protests in Los Angeles, Trump is 'inciting and provoking violence,' Newsom says.
Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office, in a letter to the Trump administration, called the deployment of troops “unlawful” and a “serious breach of state sovereignty.”
California Gov.
