CBS has cancelled The Late Show and announced Stephen Colbert will serve as final host until May 2026 days after he called out his parent company's "bribe."

The decision to cancel The Late Show comes just two days after Colbert criticized the company’s decision to settle a frivilous news distortion lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump last year. The lawsuit centered around a “60 Minutes” interview with his then-political rival, former Vice President Kamala Harris.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper criticized CBS’s parent company over its recent decision to cancel “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” arguing that Paramount Global is in a “bend-the-knee phase” to President Trump.

David Rhodes, Sky News executive chairman and former CBS News head, is in talks to run CBS News again if the Skydance acquisition of the broadcaster's owner Paramount Global closes, digital news website Puck reported on Friday.

His possible return back across the pond, reported by Puck News, comes amid speculation that Skydance CEO David Ellison has been wooing Bari Weiss, co-founder of news site Free Press, to join the struggling network.

The announcement comes two weeks after CBS parent company Paramount Global agreed to pay Trump $16 million to settle a lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview featuring Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump had alleged the interview was deceptively edited.
