Godthab, February 5 (RHC)-- Greenland’s parliament has banned political parties from receiving contributions "from foreign or anonymous contributors", ahead of its upcoming parliamentary elections and in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s interest in acquiring the island.

Greenland plans to ban foreign and anonymous donations to its political parties after the Trump administration has said the US president is serious about taking control of the vast Arctic island.

The law, billed as an effort “to safeguard Greenland’s political integrity,” came ahead of parliamentary elections.
