Carlos Alcaraz Poses Perfect Solution for Him, Jannik Sinner to Earn Career Grand Slams in 2026
Carlos Alcaraz will have the world watching him when he steps on the court at the Australian Open next week. The 22-year-old is looking to become the youngest men’s player to capture his career Grand Slam—winning at least one title in each of the four majors. Alcaraz, who recently split from longtime coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, is ranked No. 1 but won't be the favorite over the coming 15 days. That's his rival, No. 2 Jannik Sinner, who won the past two Australian Opens and appeared in the last five Slam finals overall.
Alcaraz kicks off his tournament against Australian Adam Walton while world No.2 Sinner plays Frenchman Hugo Garcia first-up. Retired great Federer is back in Australia for the first time since his final Open appearance in 2020 and will headline the tournament’s inaugural opening ceremony.
The El Palmar native is practicing at the Australian Open with Samuel Lopez. They will seek the missing Major title and a place in the ultimate history books. If he wins the trophy, the 22-year-old will become the youngest winner of a Career Grand Slam.
