Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney will look to get back to the peak of the college football world with some critical additions to the Tigers this offseason.
The transfer portal closes in five days, and Clemson has not landed a QB. Here are the remaining options for Dabo Swinney to consider.
Clemson football picked up its first transfer portal commit on offense, and he’s a speedy running back who could be a game-changer for the unit. Former SMU running back Chris Johnson Jr. has committed to the Tigers, he announced Sunday. Johnson comes to Clemson as a redshirt junior and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Defensive backs Elliot Washington (from Penn State), Jerome Carter (Old Dominion), Corey Myrick (Southern Miss) and Donovan Starr (Auburn) have also committed to Clemson through the portal. The 10 players are far and away the biggest number of transfers in the Swinney era, surpassing last year's total of three.
Listed as 6-foot-3, 280 pounds, Kelly joins former Auburn Tigers cornerback Donovan Starr, Penn State cornerback Elliot Washington, California Golden Bears linebacker Luke Ferrelli, Old Dominion safety Jerome Carter, and Southern Miss defensive back Corey Myrick as players that have committed to Clemson.
