Another significant snowfall is coming to Metro Detroit this weekend, and it'll last a long time. Here's when and how much snow.

Light snow is expected this morning through midday. It should be light with snow totals around a half inch or less, which is more than enough to ice up the roads.

For one day this winter, just let love conquer all and put off worrying about snow coming to Michigan until the weekend.

A winter storm is expected to bring 4-7 inches of snow to Metro Detroit Wednesday and Thursday. Most of the area is under a winter storm watch, but that’s likely to be upgraded to a winter weather advisory or winter storm warning.

More snow is forecast for the weekend: meteorologist Mark Torregrossa predicts another two-part system that will begin with light, widespread snow Friday evening and transition to gusty, blowing snowfall by Sunday. Light snow showers continue Sunday night with less than 1/2" of new snow expected. Temperatures will drop into the low teens, with wind chills near 0° by Monday morning. Winds will be gusty at times and out of the west-northwest 15-20 mph.
