The agent for Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams says the Los Angeles Lakers should not have failed his client’s physical examination.

The Lakers were called out by Mark Williams's representation after failing his physical and sending him back to the Hornets.

"The overwhelming sentiment, after conferring with multiple, nationally recognized doctors, is that the Los Angeles Lakers should not have failed Mark Williams on his physical," Schwartz said in the statement. "Mark was ready and able to play for them and should have been given that opportunity."

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Charlotte Hornets will kick off the post-All-Star break NBA season on Wednesday night in a game that was rescheduled after the Los Angeles fires in January. The two will square off in a standalone game in Los Angeles before heading out on back-to-backs on Thursday night.

The Hornets are seemingly not going down without a fight. After the Lakers rescinded their trade to acquire center Mark Williams from Charlotte on Saturday due to a failed physical, the Hornets are reportedly in contact with the league on the matter,
