Illinois sheriff's deputy Shamone Duncan was killed alongside a local resident while on vacation in Turks and Caicos for her sister's birthday this weekend.

Turks and Caicos has the nicest beaches in the Caribbean, but this year also already two killings, one where an American tourist celebrating her birthday in a popular restaurants was hit by a stray bullet.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force said two people were shot and killed around 10 p.m. near a popular restaurant on Grace Bay Road.

Shamone Duncan, 50, was identified as one of the people shot and killed at a restaurant on Jan. 18, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force said in a Jan. 19 news release. Police said Duncan and the other victims were not targeted.

Cook County Deputy Shamone Duncan was fatally shot along with local resident Dario Stubbs near a restaurant on Grace Bay Road at around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) said in a news release.
