Overall, the 19 states set to raise their minimum wage on Thursday include: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, the minimum wage in Michigan for adult workers will be $13.73 per hour, according to the state Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. For minors, the minimum hourly wage will be $11.67, 85% of the standard minimum wage. The tipped minimum wage will be $5.49 an hour, 40% of the standard minimum wage.
New York’s increase for 2026 is the final half-dollar increase in a plan Gov. Kathy Hochul rolled out beginning in 2024. Starting in 2027, the state’s minimum wage will increase annually at a rate tied to the Consumer Price Index.
