Storms and flood threats are headed for the New York City area, prompting a string of First Alert Weather Days through the end of the work week. Heavy rain that may cause flooding is expected both Thursday and Friday. A flood watch has been issued for most of the region from 2 p.m. Thursday through 2 p.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, the city can expect anywhere from 1.5 to 3 inches of rain due to a frontal system stalling above the region and bringing repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Other areas could see as much as 5 inches of rain by Friday, meteorologists said.

A Flood Watch is in effect for New York City due to heavy rains and potential thunderstorms, with up to two inches of rainfall expected across all boroughs.
