The commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Daglo “Hemetti”, said on Sunday his forces withdrew from the capital Khartoum but vowed to continue fighting. However, Sudanese army spokesman Nabil Abdallah said the RSF were driven out by military force and denied any deal existed for their withdrawal from positions they held.

The leader of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces said Sunday that its war with the army was not over, even after the paramilitary group was driven out of the capital last week. Both sides refuse negotiations.

The Sudanese army shelled parts of Khartoum's twin city of Omdurman from early morning on Thursday, residents said, after declaring victory over their Rapid Support Forces rivals in a two-year battle for the capital.
