Eastern Adelaide CIB detectives are investigating the “serious” assault, believed to involve a makeshift knife, at Yatala Labour Prison, Northfield, in Adelaide’s north on Sunday afternoon.

“The Department can confirm that prisoners were fighting at Yatala Labour Prison this morning,” the spokeswoman said. “As a result, one prisoner was taken to hospital and is being assessed.
