Crossover Day in the Georgia State Capitol was marred by controversy as the Senate's anti-DEI bill failed to gain traction.

Georgia lawmakers failed on Thursday to push forward a ban on diversity efforts in public schools and colleges and won’t let voters decide a constitutional amendment that could legalize sports gambling.

The legislation requires two-thirds approval from the Senate. If a simply majority voted ‘yes’ to a constitutional amendment, Georgia sports betting would have been legal on Jan. 1, 2026 and launched “no later than July 31, 2027.”
