Amid a difficult first season at Ferrari, Hamilton looked to have good pace at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and after qualifying fifth, a first podium finish in red was on the cards.
Lewis Hamilton had a heartbreaking moment during the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix when he accidentally ran over a groundhog on the track. The incident happened on Lap 12 at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. Hamilton, who was racing hard in the middle of the pack, didn’t see the animal until it was too late.
Lewis Hamilton was left ‘devastated’ after finding out he had hit a groundhog during Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix. Groundhogs are familiar residents of the Circuit Giles Villeneuve, but they have been known to be reckless when F1 cars are on track.
