Status Red gale warnings to apply across the country, with storm force southerly winds featuring gusts in excess of 130km/h

Storm Eowyn will slam Ireland later this week, with a Status Red weather warning issued for the entire country. Track it's exact path and check how wet and windy it will get in your area.

Storm Éowyn has the "potential to be very destructive," Met Éireann said while issuing its Status Red weather warnings. Check here for the Status Red, Status Yellow, and Status Orange weather warnings coming into effect for Ireland this week.

The warnings come into effect at slightly different times but all schools will shut across the country on Friday for the duration of the red alerts

In its most recent update, Met Eireann has issued a 'Danger to Life' Status Red warning for parts of the country on Friday morning. The extremely rare weather alert applies to counties Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick and is valid between 3am and 10am on Friday.

A rare, red warning has also been issued by Ireland's weather service across all counties ahead of the arrival of Storm Eowyn, saying it will bring "severe, damaging and destructive gusts".

A weather warning for high winds has been upgraded from yellow to amber for large parts of Scotland on Friday. Gusts of up to 90mph are expected during the first named storm of 2025. Storm Eowyn - pronounced "ay-oh-win" - is expected to bring widespread disruption and could cause a danger to life as a result of flying debris,
