The outboard-powered versions are slightly faster than the inboard boats, since they have less weight to drag through the water.

The CATALINA 27 is one of several models from this builder that has achieved historic popularity. In it's first 3 years of production nearly 1500 boats were sold. Total production was 6662 hulls.

We are looking at an upgrade from our 23 foot trailerable and located a 27 that would require a weekend trip to go and view. I would love any input from other owners regarding the boats ability to satisfy space for 4 adults for a few days out on the hook.

Jun 24, 2014 · I am looking for a Catalina 27 and trying to decide which interior layout I would be happiest with. As a 6 footer, when I look at the dinette arrangement and the V-berths, they appear to accomodate a 5'-6" person, but will not allow a 6' individual to fully stretch out.

Sep 13, 2016 · Some C27's have a cabin top traveler; some don't. On the C27 with a wheel, the driver does not have to sit aft of the wheel to steer. A person can sit to the side of the wheel where the wheel, the sheets, and the traveler control lines are reachable. Not the best single-handed set-up, but everything is a compromise in some way.
