Entering service in 1960, the Convair B-58 Hustler was intended to fly at high altitudes and supersonic speeds to evade Soviet interceptors. While in reality it never lived up to the initial hype, the B-58 was nevertheless outrageously fast, setting 19 world speed records, including the longest supersonic flight in history.
