Infrared cameras at the Lushan National Nature Reserve in southeast China's Jiangxi Province have, for the first time, captured clear nighttime color images of the critically endangered Chinese pangolin. Known as the "guardian of the forest", this shy species plays a key role in maintaining ecological balance. The pangolin, known for its shy and timid nature, is the only mammal covered in scales. This young Chinese pangolin, rescued from a fishpond by a farmer, was brought to a rescue center. There, the staff carefully examined it for injuries. To ensure its better survival, the staff decided to release it back into the wild.
