These puggles are super cute. Echidna Puggles have been born at Taronga Zoo for the first time in almost 30 years! “A great deal of mystery still surrounds this spiny species. Echidnas are quite elusive in the wild, so it’s hard to study their natural breeding behaviours,” said Suzie. Keepers have yet to choose names or determine the sexes of the three puggles, which won’t start to explore outside their burrows until early next year. | ABC Sydney

An echidna baby, known as a puggle, was born for the first time at Australian Reptile Park on the New South Wales Central Coast. Echidnas are one of only two egg-laying mammals in the world, alongside the platypus. They are known to be difficult to breed in captivity. The puggle will stay in the pouch for about 90 days before moving into a borrow. “To witness this tiny miracle is a testament to our team’s dedication and the amazing care we give all our animals. It’s a moment we’ll never forget,”
