The FVMA has been hard at work representing Florida’s veterinary professionals. Over the last few months, one of our key focus areas in the Florida Legislature has been xylazine, an essential sedative in animal medical care that has faced increased regulation due to concerns over illicit use outside the veterinary profession. Florida’s current legislation classifies xylazine as a Schedule 1 controlled substance, but thanks to ongoing advocacy, it has a temporary exemption for FDA-approved veteri
