When you fill out and submit a FAFSA to the government, they perform a federal methodology on it and then come up with what’s called your student index or SAI.  colleges, then Use This SAI number to determine a student’s financial need.  so let’s say your SAI number is 10,000 you would translate that into $10,000 and if the college you’re applying to $50,000 they’re going to subtract your SAI to come up with your financial need and in this case that would be $40,000  now unfortunately that do
