Our team visited an Audubon Conservation Ranching certified ranch near Albany, Texas, teaming up with the Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture to scout future prescribed burn plans. And in one of the planned burn units, we ran into a large covey of Bobwhite Quail! This pasture had been selectively thinned for mesquite, but instead of piling up the cut trees, the ranch left them where they fell.
